After MorphWiz and SampleWiz, Jordan Rudess continues his journey towards musical experimentation and innovation with Geo Synthesizer, an incredible new application for iPad and iPhone.
This time I must say that Jordan really outdid himself and the result is pretty impressive: it’s amazing what you can do and play with this app. Check this video out!
Geo Synthesizer is both a musical instrument and MIDI controller. Developed with a collaboration between Wizdom Music’s Jordan Rudess, Kevin Chartier (MorphWiz, SampleWiz) and Rob Fielding (Mugician), turns the iPad in an expressive musical instrument specifically created for a multitouch surface.
Personally the feature I like the most (and left me more impressed) is the “octave rounding for effortless soloing over large ranges“: go at the 1,19 min of the video above and you’ll see.
It’s not coincidence that Jordan said: “it’s the fastest playing surface I’ve yet experienced on an iOS device”. And he should know given his amazing fast solo technique during Dream Theater live concerts.
Eventually, I gather here for your convenience the links of the three tutorials Jordan recorded to explain how to get the most out of this app. If you want to learn more, I would really suggest you to watch them:

Geo Synthesizer can be purchased from the App Store for € 7.99.
Given the price, I don’t know why you still have € 7,99 on your credit card.
