If you are musicians, I’m sure you tried to play a song by ear but, not having perfect pitch, it was too hard to understand because of the speed of the song.
Or, if you are a jazz player, I’m sure you tried to transcribe a solo of your favorite saxophonist but you could not really get all the notes because of the speed.
Well, now there is an iPad app that can solve all these problems and represents, in my opinion, another ideal practice tool for musicians: Tempo SlowMo.
Tempo SlowMo’s simple design will help you practicing and playing songs by slowing down or speeding up an audio tracks BPM (beats per minute) without affecting its pitch.
Just hit the iPod button within the app and select a track from your music library. Tempo SlowMo will then load the track which you can then play, pause, slow down and speed up as you prefer.
The features I like most:
1)Markers: Tempo SlowMo allows you to drop markers at any point in the track so that you can quickly skip back to that point if there is a particular bit of a track you are trying to master.
2) Music: it’s not only possible to import tracks from your iPod music library and iTunes Match. You can also import tracks from your Dropbox and import tracks directly from your computer over WiFi. Press and hold the iPod button for 2 seconds to access these additional import features.
3) Recording: it’s possible to hit the microphone button within the app and it will record whatever is playing around you and allow you to play it back at any speed you want.
I have been using this app for a while and I can tell you it’s really great for practice; its elegant and intuitive design makes everything easy and, with a little effort, you’ll be able to play and transcribe anything you want. Recommended.
